COLOBRI — PLUGINS FOR PREMIERE PRO, DAVINCI RESOLVE AND FINAL CUT PRO

Colobri runs inside each editor as the same app as the web version: the same engine and the same interface.
It reads the frame under your playhead, composes ten looks from it, gives you variations and refinement of the
one you pick, and puts it on your clip. The whole grade travels as a 65-point LUT, so the editor renders it
itself, in real time and in your final export.

Keys, in every editor: F Grab frame, G Generate, V Variations, B before/after, C compare, Return Apply.

PREMIERE PRO (2025 version 25.6 or later, Mac or Windows)

Install
Double-click the "Colobri for Premiere Pro" .ccx file. Creative Cloud opens and warns that the plugin is not
from the Adobe Marketplace: click Install. (Or run the installer in the "Premiere Pro" folder.)
Restart Premiere Pro, then open Window > UXP Plugins > Colobri.

Use
  1. Put the playhead on the frame you want graded and press Grab frame.
  2. Press Generate. Pick a look, take Variations of it, refine it, set Amount and Skin hold as you like.
  3. Select the clips in the timeline and press Apply in Premiere.
Colobri saves the LUT, puts Lumetri Color on the clips and copies the LUT's location. Premiere does not let
plugins choose the file in Lumetri's Look, so the last step is yours, and Colobri shows it:
Effect Controls > Lumetri Color > Creative > Look > Browse..., then press Cmd+Shift+G, paste with Cmd+V,
press Return and Open (Windows: paste the location into File name and press Enter).
After a restart of Premiere, every Colobri LUT is also listed under Look, by name.
A Lumetri that already wears a look keeps it: the Colobri look gets a Lumetri Color of its own.

  LUTs are kept in:
    Mac ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/LUTs/Creative/Colobri
    Windows %APPDATA%\Adobe\Common\LUTs\Creative\Colobri

DAVINCI RESOLVE STUDIO (version 18 or later, Mac or Windows)

Install
Mac: right-click "Install Colobri for Resolve (Mac).command" in the "DaVinci Resolve" folder, choose Open,
and enter your password. (macOS asks before it runs a script from the internet. If it still refuses,
open System Settings > Privacy & Security, click Open Anyway, and open the installer again.)
Windows: double-click "Install Colobri for Resolve (Windows).bat" and allow it to make changes.
Restart Resolve, then open Workspace > Workflow Integrations > Colobri.

Use
  1. On the Color page, put the playhead on the frame you want graded and press Grab frame.
If the clip already wears a Colobri look, that node is switched off for the grab, so new looks are
     composed from the grade underneath.
  2. Press Generate, pick a look, take Variations and refine it.
  3. Choose where it goes (this clip, its color group, or the whole timeline) and press Apply in Resolve.
The look lands on the node labelled "Colobri" if there is one, else on the node already wearing a Colobri
look, else on the last node. Label a node "Colobri" to keep the look on its own node.

Colobri makes its looks for Rec.709 Gamma 2.4 in Resolve, unless you choose another Output in the app.
In a color-managed timeline (DaVinci Wide Gamut), set the Colobri node's color space and gamma to that
Output (right-click the node), because the LUT expects it in and out.

The free version of Resolve has no Workflow Integrations. Use the Colobri web app instead: Export > LUT,
then drop the .cube into Resolve's LUT folder (Project Settings > Color Management > Open LUT Folder).

FINAL CUT PRO (10.6 or later, on macOS 13 Ventura or later)

Install
Right-click "Install Colobri for Final Cut Pro.command" in the "Final Cut Pro" folder, choose Open, and confirm.
(macOS asks before it runs a script from the internet. If it still refuses, open System Settings > Privacy &
Security, click Open Anyway, and open the installer again.) It puts "Colobri for Final Cut Pro" in Applications,
readies the effect for this Mac and puts the effect template in Movies > Motion Templates > Effects > Colobri.
Quit and reopen Final Cut Pro if it was open.

Use
  1. In the Effects browser, choose the Colobri category and drag Colobri onto a clip.
  2. In the Video inspector, click Open Colobri. Colobri reads the frame under the playhead.
  3. Generate, pick and refine a look, then press Apply to clip. The inspector shows the look's name, and Mix blends
it with the clip. The look is stored in the clip, so it travels with the library and renders in every export.

Exports from the app (LUTs, stills, clips) go to Movies/Colobri.
To remove Colobri from Final Cut Pro, run "Uninstall Colobri for Final Cut Pro.command".

TRIAL AND LICENCE

Colobri is free to try for 7 days from the first time you open it, in the browser and in each editor. After that it
still opens frames, composes looks and shows them, but exporting (LUTs, stills, clips) and applying looks in an
  editor need a licence.

A licence is €59, once: every Colobri 1.x version, for you, on up to two computers, in the browser and in every editor.
Buy it at davidhjalmarlindberg.com/colobri. Your licence key is in the receipt e-mail.

To add it, click the trial button at the top of the Colobri window (or How Colobri works > Add a licence), paste the key
and click Add licence. Do it once in each editor and browser you use. Colobri checks the key online when you add it,
then works offline, and checks it again now and then.

Moving to another computer? In Colobri on the old one, open the licence and choose Remove from this computer, then add
the key on the new one. Questions: david@nakaya.world

SAVED LOOKS

Press Save look (or S) on any look, generated or refined, and give it a name. It keeps its Refine, Amount, Skin hold
and process, and appears under Saved in the strip at the bottom, in every project.
In Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve the saved looks live in one file of yours, shared by both editors:
    Mac ~/Library/Application Support/Colobri/looks.json
    Windows %APPDATA%\Colobri\looks.json
In the browser and in Final Cut Pro they stay in Colobri's own storage on this computer.

On another frame a saved look is fitted to it: its color, contrast and saturation stay as saved, and its exposure,
black, white and skin are solved for the new frame, so nothing is crushed or clipped. Choose As saved to use it exactly
as it was. Under the look's name: Rename, Export file (a .colobrilook file to take to another editor or computer) and
Remove from saved. Import a look file from the end of the Saved strip.

THE WEB APP

"Colobri web app.html" is the same app on its own. Open it in Chrome or Safari. Export > LUT makes .cube
files for any editor. It is also online at davidhjalmarlindberg.com/colobri/app.

IF SOMETHING DOES NOT WORK

Licence: if Colobri says it could not reach Lemon Squeezy, check that the computer is online and add the key again.

Premiere: the panel needs Premiere Pro 25.6 or later. If Grab frame fails, open a sequence first.
If the panel ever shows nothing, choose Reload Colobri in the panel's menu (the three lines next to its name).
After installing a new version while Premiere is open, the panel may open small: drag its corner to resize it.
For support: three clicks on the Colobri logo show the diagnostics, with a Copy button.
Resolve: the plugin needs Resolve Studio. If it says it cannot write to the LUT folder, run the installer
again. Workflow Integrations show their messages in the panel's status line and toasts.
Final Cut Pro: if Colobri is missing from the Effects browser, quit Final Cut Pro, open "Colobri for Final Cut Pro"
in Applications (it checks the installation and says what is missing), then open Final Cut Pro again.
